Overview
This page lists the current and past scholar teams. It also provides some general information about scholar teams and how to register. To view a complete list of all scholar team related pages in the wiki, go here. In general, scholar teams are projects that faculty propose, advise, and invite students to participate on. By participating, students are provided with a unique, hands-on learning experience. In addition to attending a weekly project meeting, participation involves spending a couple of additional hours each week gaining knowledge and contributing your skills to the project. You can register for one scholar team credit each semester but it is generally not a requirement in order for you to participate. Registered students will be graded on a Pass/Fail basis. More information about registering is provided below. If you want to be on a team, you should contact the team advisor to get additional information and to receive permission to be on the team.

Registration
Notes
- You are generally not required to register for scholar team. However, registering can make you more committed to the team and it looks good on your transcript.
- It is a good idea to begin by visiting the scholar team advisor to gain further insight about the team and to make sure that he or she is still accepting students.
How to Register
First, you should receive permission to be on the scholar team from the faculty advisor. Then, you must see Pris, the department secretary, to register. You will need to provide her with your ID number and your curriculum-based (not credit-based) standing within the department, e.g. sophomore.
- Week 1 of semester: Pris probably won't start processing scholar team students yet. This is a good time to visit with the advisor(s) of any scholar team(s) that you are interested in. Some advisors might request a schedule from you so that an appropriate meeting time can be scheduled.
- After Week 1 of semester: See Pris and tell her that you want to be on a team. She will then give you an electronic or written permit to register for the scholar team credit. For electronic permits you must go online and register before the deadline. For written permits, you must take the slip to the registrar to be added to the class.
Additional Scholar Team Information
If you would like to gain more insight about scholar teams, you can read this journal manuscript that has been submitted for review. It includes survey results from students and faculty on their experiences and perceptions of scholar teams.
